Acupuncture as a lifesaver for those struggling with Migraines


A 35 year old female patient had been struggling with constant, debilitating migraine headaches for many months.  They caused extreme fatigue, and were ruling her life. She was unable to keep up with household chores, or enjoy her family or her life. After seeing many a neurologist, and many other doctors, she had lost hope of regaining her life. She experienced relief from the pain within seconds of her first treatment, and after two weeks of twice weekly acupuncture with our distal image style acupuncture, her pain had decreased by half, and within another two weeks was maintaining, pain free, between appointments. While she still has the occasional trigger headache, the intensity and duration are small and short, and her energy has improved so much that they don’t keep her from her duties or enjoying her life and her family. 

Basic point prescription included: LI 11, 10, 4, Ht 3 ashi, Liv 2, 3, 6, St 38, and GB 39, 42. Other points were added based on signs and symptoms each visit. 

Blood building foods were encouraged including dark leafy vegetables, kidney beans, and nettle leaf tea. 

Long term treatment and prevention to include Chinese Herbs for building blood, regulating blood circulation, and balancing hormones: Dang Gui Shao Yao Tang, Chuan Xiong Cha Tiao San, Shen Ling Bai Zhu San, Wu Wei Zi, Ye Jiao Teng.
