Last meeting ~ Dr. Beijing Men ~ Body Mind Spirit

Dr Men was born in Xi'an, China. He started his medical career with the inspiration from his father, a professor of physics.  After 5 years of Chinese medical school, Dr. Men practiced general & urological surgery for 6 years.

Dr. Men had been very proud of being a surgeon to take care of people by cutting their sick part off until one day he was asked to consult a headache patient. This patient had an excruciating headache but there were no positive findings by the modern medical exam equipment.  Should Dr. Men cut this patient's head off? :-) (pause) You definitely know the answer. It is this answer that changed Dr. Men's career right back to the traditional Chinese medicine, which explains the human body differently than just a physical body.

Today it is our pleasure to have Dr. Men, a noted acupuncturist in Seattle, explain Body, Mind and Spirit – the 3 parts of the human body from the traditional Chinese medicine view point.

A Thank-you Letter from a Patient

Dearest Dr. Men...

Hoping the balance of your week last week was a peaceful and productive one.

I know we certainly kept you quite busy. I think P. and I finally slept on Sunday.
Whew! What a week last week was.

Thank you so much for the balance of the tea for P.. He's been very diligent about his
regimen. He's been drinking his tea every morning and every evening. We've diluted it
just a bit so that he's able to drink it. But he's been following your instructions
exactly. I will say -- P.'s face does look so much better than the first day. Gosh!
That was quite unnerving. Truly was...as you know.

P. had an appointment with a neurologist yesterday. The gentleman confirmed the
condition to be "Bell's Palsy." He offered an MRI...but didn't really think P.
needed one. P. has chosen to have one. So we'll go Friday afternoon for that test.

When I received your email last week confirming P.'s order for the tea and read
the "P. S," I wept. The Lord is so amazing. He really is. He has newly gifted
our lives with your presence in them...and we are eternally grateful for who you
were...are...and will remain in our lives, Dr. Men. We've been through a great
deal over the years. I would imagine you have as well. I think that's how He
works. For some reason, He tenderizes our hearts in the laboratory of pain 'n loss
many times perhaps so we appreciate the blessings of the most important things --
the realization of His abundant love for us so that we may love others freely without
expectation...true kindness ... tender generosity...selfless dedication and loyalty,
and sacrifice of one's time...in essence, one's life...for another. P. and I have
been the recipient of those heartfelt gifts -- from Mom and Dad...our Grandmother...and
our favorite Uncle...from some friends along the way. And even though He's blessed
us with relationships that have lasted "a lifetime" during some of the most difficult
years of our journey, He has chosen to present us with one greater gift in you.

Thank you so very much for your true kindness...your tender generosity...your selfless
 dedication...and your cherished sacrifice.

We send all our love and blessings to you -- today 'n always...

R. (and brother P....), Florida, USA

Traditional Chinese medicine has been widely used in

counteracting space motion sickness in China's space flight

missions. During space flight there is up to a 50 percent

chance for astronauts to feel space motion sickness.

However, during the five-day Shenzhou-6 mission, Fei Junlong

and Nie Haisheng always maintained sound physical conditions.

Apart from specific exercises beforehand, traditional Chinese medicines also contributed.

Director of the China Astronaut Research and Training Center Chen Shan'guang says Traditional Chinese medicines

proved to be effective when pilots carry out space missions."Before astronauts go to space, they take traditional Chinese

medicines which enhance their ability to maintain balance and improve their immune system. According to the feedback

of the two Shenzhou-6 astronauts, these measures have had positive effects." Chen said.In their everyday training, Chinese

medicinal herbs, Chinese massage therapy, and acupuncture have been used to improve astronauts' physical conditions.

The China Astronaut Research and Training Centre is cooperating with the laboratory from the Chinese University of Hong Kong

to better prevent the loss of calcium in bones during a zero-gravity situation. Chen says China will continue to promote the use

of traditional Chinese medicines on astronauts. "We may continue to use Chinese medicines in China's manned-space flights

and we will also promote traditional Chinese medicines in some international space missions to counteract the space motion

sickness." he said.
